Why our total is higher than other eBay calculators — and matches your payout statement
eBay charges its final value fee on the whole order, including the sales tax it collects. Almost every other calculator quietly ignores tax, so it under-states your fee. This one estimates the buyer's sales tax — by state or the US average — and includes it in the fee base, the way eBay actually bills you. Prefer the simpler number? Set the tax dropdown to “No sales tax.”
eBay selling fees in 2026, explained
eBay charges two main fees on every sale: a final value fee (a percentage of the total sale — item price, shipping charged to the buyer, and sales tax combined) and a fixed per-order fee of $0.30 for orders of $10 or less, or $0.40 for orders over $10. In mid-2026 the final value fee for most categories is 13.6% on the portion up to $7,500 (then 2.35% above that). Store subscribers (Basic and up) pay 12.7% on the portion up to $2,500.
Many older calculators still show 13.25%/12.35% — those rates are out of date. This page tracks the current schedule and shows the verification date above.

Frequently asked questions
How much does eBay take per sale in 2026?
For most categories: 13.6% of the total sale (item + shipping + tax) plus $0.30–$0.40 per order. Store subscribers pay 12.7%. Use the calculator above for your exact category.
Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?
Yes — the final value fee applies to the total amount of the sale including shipping charged to the buyer and sales tax collected, even though the tax itself is remitted to the state.
What are eBay sneaker fees?
Athletic shoes selling for $150+ pay a flat 8% (7% with a store) and no per-order fee. Below $150 the standard rate applies.
Is an eBay store worth it?
A Basic store costs $21.95/mo (billed yearly) and cuts the most-categories rate by 0.9 points. Above roughly $2,400/mo in sales the fee savings alone pay for it — plus you get 1,000 free fixed-price listings.
How do promoted listings fees work?
General cost-per-sale campaigns charge your chosen ad rate (2%+) on the total sale amount, only when the sale comes through the ad. Dynamic-rate campaigns enforce roughly a 5% minimum.
How much should I list for to take home $X?
Flip the calculator to reverse mode (the Mode dropdown) and enter the amount you want to keep. It solves for the exact list price — accounting for your category, store status, promoted-listing rate, and international fees. For most categories with no store, listing at about $116.20 nets you $100.
Why is this calculator's fee higher than other eBay calculators?
Because eBay charges its final value fee on the tax-inclusive order total, and this calculator estimates the buyer's sales tax and includes it — the way eBay actually bills you. Most calculators ignore tax and under-state the fee. Choose “No sales tax” in the dropdown to compare like-for-like.
