Etsy seller fees in 2026, explained

Every Etsy sale involves three baseline fees, and they apply to different amounts — the detail most sellers (and many calculators) miss:

FeeRateApplies to
Listing fee$0.20Per listing, renews every 4 months or on sale
Transaction fee6.5%Item + shipping + gift wrap (excludes US sales tax)
Payment processing (US)3% + $0.25Total including sales tax
Offsite Ads (if attributed)15% or 12%Order total, capped at $100

For a typical organic sale, combined fees land around 10–12% of the order. An Offsite-Ads-attributed sale roughly doubles that — which is why pricing needs headroom if your shop is at the mandatory 12% tier ($10k+ trailing-year sales).

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?

About 10–12% for an organic sale once you combine the $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, and 3% + $0.25 processing. The calculator shows your exact number.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes — the 6.5% transaction fee covers item + shipping + gift wrap, and processing applies to the full total including tax.

What is the Offsite Ads fee?

15% of the order (optional, shops under $10k/yr) or 12% (mandatory at $10k+), capped at $100 per order, charged only when the sale is attributed to an Etsy Offsite Ad.

How should I price to stay profitable?

Work backwards from all-in cost (materials + labor + your shipping) and add at least 15% headroom for fees before profit. Test prices in the calculator to see real margin.

How much should I list for to take home $X?

Switch the calculator to reverse mode (the Mode dropdown) and enter the amount you want to keep. It solves for the exact list price after the listing, transaction, processing and Offsite Ads fees. For an organic sale with no shipping charge, listing at about $110.99 nets you $100.
